26 seconds, the brief amplitude of time for a single rise and fall of the swell; a measured rhythm for the wave’s return to gentle equilibrium, after midnight’s crest, the lulling of earlier drifts are felt, lapping softly to shore. one moment, captured here, singularly precious in this instance, yet infinitely repeated in the perpetual shift of tides that have followed the moon for eons.
